POEMS :

MIXED STROKES
(For Voices at Rio de Janeiro’s Earth Summit)

Sometimes, I feel like
Minting a coin with a word
And coining a word in the mint
To weave a wordy path
To serve a worthy cause

Sometimes, I feel like
Burying the earth
In the grave of my soul
To earth its soul
From the butt of shoal

Sometimes, I feel like
Filling the sea
With the sand of my spittle
And sweeping its flood
With the broom of my giggle

Sometimes, I feel like
Lending a hand
In ceiling the sky
With the ozone
Of my breath

Sometimes, I feel like
Walling my world
To waltz untouched
Unseen and unheard in its hall
Like a hermit in his stall

Sometimes, I feel like
I should strike the button
Of the probing mind
To release the wisdom gel
And buffer our dying world
Our perennially dying world
From Science and Time
