POEMS :

NOTHINGNESS

The waters flap their wings
In the largeness of their heart
Miss a beat, then
Panting in the splashing vastness
Of their surfy latitude
Beckon on the mollusk, wriggling
In deep parturition pains.
We simply nod, painfully
Asking not for help
For how can we ask
When we cannot speak
And our hands are manacled
In the entrails of despair?
Can these drills brighten
The gloomy frills
Of the galloping hearth?
Limpets, ancient limpets
With no more power in their arms
To blanket the dart of fury
They heave a sigh
And cast a spell
The groaning reptiles dance
To the thundering clap
Of limpid watery breaths
But their voices are muffled
In the echoing tribunal
Of our plaintive wail
Prisoner-in-chief!
Who says you’re
Alone
In this voyage?
